Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Zach: Soccer Guy!

Zach has joined a soccer team... well, it's called kick 'n run. And that's what this group of 4 and 5 year olds does well!

Zach, though a little distracted by pretty clouds and bugs in the grass, has enjoyed learning some of the basic skills of the game. The 45 minute practice is just the right amount of time for him to burn around in a semi-focused activity.

Truth be told, Zach really loves his new water bottle that he got when he joined the team. In fact, Zach has a hard time drinking straight water at any other time than when he's at soccer practice, and then he runs off the field every five minutes for a water break! ha ha

At his first practice Zach was a little discouraged when the fast little boy on the team had a blue pinee, but he only got yellow. "Mom, maybe next time I'll get a blue pinee too because they make you go faster!" Since then Zach has learned that it's not the color of the pinee that dictates the speed of a person; some kids just run faster than others.

Zach felt really special on this particular night when I took the photos. I had found him a pair of soccer shorts, and a shirt with a number on it. He wore his "superman" long socks and I folded up a couple of facecloths to stick in as his shin pads. He says the soccer kleats I bought him (12 dollar velcro Walmart special) feel really good on his feet! And with Mama all over the field taking pictures of him, he was proud as punch! A real Soccer Pro!

The evening was a beautiful 20+ degrees, and so I had to take him out for a slurpee after practice! ;)
