Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Once upon a time...

... there was an A&W girl who worked very hard to serve her burgers and fries with a smile. But one day, a grumpy customer came in and was upset with her for not giving them a senior's discount. You see, the girl didn't want to assume that this particular customer was over 60.

Well, before any blows could be sent, Spiderman entered to save the girl from impending tears over the situation. He swooped in on his web and saved the day!

But he quickly rushed off to another disconcerting situation where a man, in the name of hunting, decided he needed to get his mug shot taken. This situation appeared grim because the man was not aloud to smile for the photo. However, upon assesment, Spiderman decided the man was no threat to anyone other than a forest full of moose, and so he let him go. Again, he rushed off to another situation...

...where three little boys seemed to be stuck in a box. It didn't take long, however, for Spiderman to realize that these boys were the best of buds, and they really were happy to be squished in the little box. So he joined them in the toy box and they all lived happily ever after!

(yes, Tanya has a new job- two days/week- at A&W, and Jeremy has aquired his hunting licence!)

Giving Thanks Once Again!!

Jeremy took me on a surprise 5-year anniversary night this past weekend. We stayed the night at a Hotel in Penticton, enjoyed a lovely greek dinner, followed by a Carolyn Arends concert, then a very bubbly jacuzzi tub-time in front of a glowing fireplace. And then, in the morning, the glorious luxury of just reading and relaxing. We then grabbed breakfast on the go, and headed to the vineyard of some of Sumac Ridge- makers of some of our favorite wines. We took a tour of their winery, tasted a number of their exsquisite flavors, bought one bottle for Thanskgiving dinner that night, and one more to age for the next 5 years until our 10 year anniversary! This wonderful experience could not have happened without my Mom and Dad taking the boys- especially Mom juggling three little boys, warming bottles, preparing the ham.... We also would have gotten nowhere without Jer's Mom and Dad's car loaned to us for the trip. Most of all, THANKYOU TO MY WONDERFUL MAN; the plans were made months in advance because he loves me so much!!

The rest of the weekend was spent with both sides of our families- Janzen's Sunday afternoon, and Harnetts on Monday. Good times, good company and good food. Thank You Lord!
Thanksgiving for us also has a lot to do with the season of beauty surrounding us. We got out for a good, long walk in the woods again this weekend! Enjoyed by all!

And just what am I thankful for???

Autumn Harvest and Limo Rides

We've had quite the bounty of harvest this year! Our garden, shared with Mom and Dad Harnett, has produced for us many beets, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, beans, etc. We've been blessed with much fresh, organic produce this season. It has been so yummy! Thank you Lord for your abundant goodness and provision to us!
Zach and I were invited to go gleaning at a friend's apple orchard. Together we picked two boxes of Gala apples, and then were given an extra box of Macintosh's. I've had help from many little hands (not only Zach's but also his cousin Malachi's, and their little friend Teagan) in peeling, chopping and preparing the apples for sauce, pies, crisps and freezing.
And included in our harvest this year, was another little "veggie". The "Pumpkin" squashed between the zuchinni and our eldest Peanut is Isaiah, in case you didn't recognize him. (how "corny" is that?) ah, such silly harvest jokes....

And a very unique blessing I had this week is a two hour limo ride with nine other friends!! Lara, a beautiful lady who is becoming a dear friend, has just turned 30, and to celebrate her mom rented a limo for we 10 young ladies to take Lara for a ride around Kelowna, Westbank and Peachland. What a HOOT!! The biggest "miracle" of it all is that THERE WERE NO BABIES ON BOARD!!! (you must realize that 8 out of the ten of us have at least two children, and half of us were still nursing moms of new-borns; including Lara herself, and a mother of twin boys.... We sure thank our hubbies- the DADS- for taking the kids during our "ladies cruise!"
