Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Goodbye Grandma Tutyko

On March 26th we recieved the phonecall that Jeremy's grandma (Mom's Mom) passed away. It was unexpected and sudden. Grandma had been having a rough time with her health over the last few months, but things were looking brighter and she was eager to celebrate her youngest daughter's 50th birthday on the weekend, as well as a bridal shower for her only grand-daughter. Grandma also had her gift ready for her very first great-grand-daughter, still in the "oven", but due within a couple of weeks.
This past weekend we celebrated Auntie Carol's 50th without Grandma there. We had Jerine's bridal shower. The baby is not yet arrived. And Grandma is with Jesus in Heaven.

Grandma's memorial service was a beautiful celebration of her life. She was a servant of the Lord, ministering to many through her love and generosity. She was a prime example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She lived a full life and saw the Lord work in many ways. She blessed her husband and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And at her memorial service, she was called "bless-ed" and was given the praise due her name.

We will miss Grandma. We grieve because there is a hole left in the place where she dwelt in our lives. And yet, there is such a peace and assurance because of the hope that we have in Christ; this hope that Grandma lived for as well.

Goodbye Grandma. But not forever.
