Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Zach's birthday!!! the BIG #5!!

My big boy has hit the half decade stage!! Unbelievable!!!!
Zachariah is a wonderful little man with many talents and a precious heart.

We celebrated his birthday and Father's Day and Uncle Justin's birthday at the Harnett home first.

Then we celebrated his birthday with friends and (Oma and Opa) at the Vernon waterslides. The day wasn't as sunny as it had been the day before, and not as many friends were able to make it out as we had hoped, but it was still a success: WE HAD FUN!

I made Zach a volcano cake at his request. It was the easiest birthday cake I ever made for one of my kids. The neat part was that he got to pour the lava into the hole in front of his party guests!! (Lava being pinky-orange colored vanilla pudding). It flowed down the sides of the volcano and then settled as an extra yummy kind of icing/filling!! Mmmm.
Then we added the sparklers (every erupting volcano has smoke), and the candles (fire, of course)! How exciting!!

The sliding was a hoot!! I haven't been in YEARS, and even Oma took a few daring trips down the slippery slopes! ;)
(her first time ever!)
Of the kids, Isaiah was the most eager slider. Ben prefered lounging in the hot-tub, hands down. Zach zipped down a few slides and then focused on encouraging Oma to go down too!
