Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Paska days are here again!!

I love to bake, and have learned alot of "tricks of the trade" from my precious Oma. Before she was admitted to the Menno Home late last year I would frequently phone her for a tip on mixing up a batch of anything Mennonite- from wereneki (perogies) to her famous peppermint cookies!!
Paska, for those of you who aren't aware, is a traditional Easter bread. I claim it as "mennonite", but I'm sure it originated somewhere back in Russia/Ukrain- my mother-in-law insists that it is indeed Ukrainian! (as she does with perogies and borscht and...) I suppose we mennonites have picked up a little of everything good along our route from Holland- back in our early formative years of culture and doctrine- through the Prussia/Russia/Ukrain days of persecution and hardship, and the mate` from Paraguay (for some of us) and on to our Canadian days of abundance and prosperity. Have you read the book "Chariots in the Smoke" by... I can't recall the author's name just now. Great historical novel on the journey of the Mennonite people.
