vendredi, avril 29, 2005Zach's Reaction!Zach's reaction to extended family greeting us at the airport. Here we are visiting my (Jer's) brother and his family in Abbotsford. vendredi, avril 22, 2005Zach the ClownZachariah has become obsessed with clowns since he saw one at Youth Quake. So the other night, much to the delight of Zach, Tanya painted him up as a clown. As a part of his fascination with clowns Zach is intrigued with juggling. He walks around the house practicing "gugling". His act includes singing and dancing. To help hone his skills Zach likes to watch Juggle Boy. mardi, avril 19, 2005A PoemResearching ecological issues for a class assignment I came across an article at adbusters which addressed Genetic Engineering. This is my creative response to what I read. The Genetically Engineered Future The future genetically engineered is far more exquisite than originally reared. Minds bent on mastery and control are more than willing to sell their soul. Modernism’s dream of success far outweighs the care and notice of nature and its way’s. But dreams cashed in for profits is simulacrum cries the prophet. Tables grown from seed, babies bred by breed is genetic malpractice and hair pulling madness. Human life is pedigree we are who we are by degree. None would wish ancestry to a Petri dish. But genetically predisposed to greed the halls of power concede and sell the deed. Their success defined by monetary gain now resides on the prairies in a head of grain. A gust of wind and their dream takes flight across a field and becomes a plight. Juxtaposition of surreal and sublime men playing God should be a crime. mardi, avril 12, 2005A Happy Mother mardi, avril 05, 2005Welcome Here Benjamin vendredi, avril 01, 2005Still hangin' in there.... (the baby that is)Tanya here. Not in labour yet. Of course, my due date is not actually until April 4th, but for the last three weeks the baby's head has been painfully lodged in my pelvis, and pretty 'ripe' for delivery. ALAS, there's not much I can do. Last night Jer and I made a trip to the hospital because I was leaking amniotic fluid. They checked me out and then an hour later told me to come back when the 'leak' became a significant 'gush'. Hmmm... so here I wait again. I know, I know, many of you ladies have gone way beyond your due date. And I'm sure, as is the case with me, patience was wearing thinner than... my cervix is at this time.... I tried to post a photo last week of myself wearing a maternity dress my great grandmother sewed for my mother when she was pregnant with me. (got that?) It's pretty funky- all seventies-like. I feel proud to wear it. And my mom, staying with us for a while, is proud to see me wearing it. (Funny to think I was 'wearing' it 26 years ago, and now again!) Anyone got any good home-remedies to get labour going? I've been drinking red-raspberry leaf tea faithfully for the last two months. Haven't tried Cod-liver Oil yet... any testimonials on that stuff? I should go now. My eyes are already 'bugging' from this bright screen. -TH
