Pilgrims On The Way

our old theologians used to make a lot out of the distinction between God's knowledge and ours...they distinguished...between a knowledge of God in himslef (a theology of glory), which was unavailable to us, and a revelation of God accommodated to our weakness (a theology of the cross). they called "our theology" theologia viatorum, "the theology of pilgrims." while pilgrims haven't already arrived, they know where they're headed and are even now on their way by God's grace. -Michael Horton

Here SHE is!

So, the long and short of it was:
We were told to come in to the hospital at 8am to be induced on January 5th.
Upon arrival we were informed that they had over-booked the inductions that day and I would probably be sent home unless I had a clinical reason to be induced immediately. (I suggested that I had three other kids who had to be "farmed out" for this occasion, and by postponing the induction I would have to figure it all out once again; not a good enough reason.) We were sent home until further notice of space available, and ...
well, I said this would be the "short" of it:
We were called at home by the ward to come back in at 1:30pm. So, by 2pm I had the inducing gel .... I was monitored. By 4:30 they figured nothing was really happening. I said "Well, I feel something happen. I am feeling some pain."
They sent me home and suggested we'd try again in the morning. But before they did, the phoned my doc and he said "Bring her back in at 8pm and do the gel again." So, Jer and I headed to his folks place by 5pm for some salad and wings. I was starting to feel more and more intensity in my belly as we drove away from the hospital. By 5:30 I was pacing btwn 5 minute contractions. I ate... I probably shouldn't have, but I was hungry! By 6pm the contractions were 3 minutes apart. I told Jer we should head back. Both of us were expecting to have an all-nighter with this labor. But by the time I got back to the labor ward (6:30) I was doubling over, contractions were two minutes apart and I was 5cm dilated!! Well it went pretty fast and furious after that. I sucked some gas -- which I would NEVER do again!! (it made me LOOPY and lose focus of my controlled breathing, which resulted in me hyperventilating)

Anyway, she was born at 8:35pm on January 5th. She is so beautiful and healthy. Her brothers are pleased as punch about her!! And, of course, Daddy is beaming with pride about his little pink bundle!
